“But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” – Psalm 81:16
A Steady Foundation 🪨
There is something steady about rocks. They are solid and sturdy. They don’t move with the wind or crumble easily — they stand strong no matter what. That’s exactly how God wants us to see Him — as our rock and our unshakable foundation.
When David called God his Rock, he was declaring that his safety and confidence didn’t come from his own strength or from others — it came from God alone.

Honey in the Rock 🍯
While sitting on a rock, listening to “Honey in the Rock” by Brooke Ligertwood and Brandon Lake, I was reminded that we don’t need to harbor worries — we can turn them all over to God.
Being faithful means relying on Him — not just in good times, but also in moments of difficulty. This song paints a beautiful picture of God’s provision — how He gave manna to the Israelites in the desert and brought water from the stone to quench their thirst.
He is our Honey in the Rock — our source of satisfaction, peace, and joy.

The Sweetness of His Provision 🍯
It’s interesting that Brooke chose this verse about honey. Honey is mentioned sixty-one times in the Bible, often symbolizing abundance and blessing. It’s both sweet and nourishing — much like God’s presence in our lives.
What comfort we have when we fully embrace God as our Rock, and the honey as His unexpected blessings — the provision, joy, and sweetness that flow out of trusting Him.

A Sweet Reminder 🐝
While standing in line at the UPS store, an elderly man handed each of us a small bag of honey. He’s known as Mr. Kuhn — and he loves to encourage others with his raw honey and his simple message: “Bee Sweet.” 🍯
I had already written this devotion and couldn’t help but smile, thinking about God’s perfect timing. Mr. Kuhn brought sweetness to my day — a reminder that God sprinkles little blessings into our everyday moments, often when we least expect them.
Where has God brought sweetness out of something in your life? 💛
