“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” — Isaiah 26:3

In a world filled with noise, worry, and uncertainty, there is a peace that the world cannot give and cannot take away. It comes from knowing Jesus Christ and trusting that He holds every part of our lives in His hands.

The Story Behind a Hymn 🎶

One of my favorite hymns is “It Is Well with My Soul.” It reminds us of the strength and comfort found in faith, even in the darkest storms.

It was written by Horatio Spafford, a successful attorney who endured unimaginable loss. He lost his fortune in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, and soon after, his four-year-old son died of scarlet fever. In 1873, his wife and four daughters sailed to Europe. Tragedy struck when their ship collided and sank — his wife survived, but all four daughters perished.

Hope in the Storm 🌊

As Spafford crossed the Atlantic to meet his grieving wife, the captain pointed out the waters where the ship had gone down. In that very place, he wrote the words to “It Is Well with My Soul.”

How could he write such words in the face of unimaginable sorrow? Because his hope was not in circumstances, but in Christ.

Peace That Stands Firm 💜

The peace of God does not deny the storm — it calms us within the storm. That is why Isaiah reminds us that peace is possible when our minds stay steadfast, trusting the One who never fails.

This week, may we pause and ask ourselves: Is it well with my soul? (Isaiah 26:3)
