A Question That Invites the Heart 💛

“But who do you say that I am?” — Luke 9:20

For Christmas, my children gave me a box of tabletop questions—simple prompts meant to spark conversation and reflection. As we sat together answering them, I was reminded of the quiet power a good question can hold.

Later, during my devotion time, that gift came back to mind and led me to think about Jesus and the way He taught. Again and again, He used questions to draw people closer—not just to truth, but to God and to their own hearts.

Jesus, the Teacher Who Asked

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus didn’t rely on long explanations. He taught with questions. Not because He lacked answers—but because He wanted to reach the heart.

When Jesus asked, “Who do you say I am?” He wasn’t gathering information.

He was inviting a personal response. A moment of reflection. A confession of the heart.

Questions That Reveal What’s Inside 💛

Jesus asked questions that gently uncovered faith, fear, and motive. “Why are you afraid?” He asked the disciples in the storm. “Do you want to be made well?” He asked the man who had been sick for thirty-eight years.

Each question required honesty. Each one invited reflection—and transformation.

The Questions He Still Asks Us Today 🤍

Jesus still asks questions today.

When we are anxious, He asks, “Where is your faith?”

When we are weary, He asks, “Do you love Me?”

His questions slow us down and turn our attention inward—not to condemn us, but so He can do His healing work in our lives.

A Grace-Filled Invitation 🌿

It’s easy to rush past these questions, offering quick answers instead of surrendered hearts. But when we pause and reflect, we begin to see what’s truly inside us—and we invite Him into that space.

The beauty is this: we may answer honestly and imperfectly, yet He still meets us with grace.

Always with grace.

Something to think about this week: When Jesus asks us a question, do our answers come from habit… or from our heart?
